Announcement #1:
Congratulations to the Speech Team on their awesome performance at district competition at Lake Mills.
We advanced 5 out of 9 events to State Competition in Dubuque on February 4th.  Those events are:
Group Improv: Hailey Barrus and Mariah Smith
Ensemble Acting: Hailey Barrus, Mariah Smith, & Morgan Schlichting
Group Improv: Jesse Brown, Jonah Christianson, Wyatt Heideman, & Caden Sifert
Varsity One Act:
Cloe Brown, Emilee Eivins, Janeth Martinez, Maddie Mason, Elizabeth 
Nelson, Grace Ritter, Jane Roberts, Morgan Schlichting, Easton Smith, 
Mallory Sopher, Grace Wertjes, & Allison Wessels

Reader's Theatre:

There will be Reader's Theatre practice at 7 AM Tuesday and Thursday in the auditorium! Please be on time and make sure you have your script!

Jr. High Al Exito will have a meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, at 3:45 in the Consumer Science Room.  

Spring play auditions will take place on both Thursday, February 2nd and Friday 3rd both at 7am and5:30 pm.  An audition sign up is posted outside the choir room.  Please sign up for a time.  Make sure to avoid any conflicts that you may have in other activities.  For an audition packet or any questions, please see Mr. Howell.  Thanks!

BKHS is giving the ACT April 8th. Deadline to register is March 3rd.


BKHS also has purchased Method Test prep for our students to help them 
study and improve their ACT scores. If you are interested in taking this
online class for free, see Mrs. Blomme or Mrs. Kozisek for access. Once
you have completed this course you will be given  high school credit 
for it.

Any Juniors still needing to complete 2 of their service projects for prom, we have a lot of upcoming opportunities for you.  December 9th we will be hosting a dinner at the home varsity basketball game.  If you are able to help set up, serve, or tear down please let Mrs. Wadsley or Mrs. Stein know asap.

All 7th - 12th graders have been shared an athletic survey through their BK e-mail.  Please be checking your e-mail and complete the survey by Friday, Dec. 9th.  

The Class of 2018 is collecting money to start the Sgt. Tony Beminio Memorial Scholarship Fund.  There is a bucket in the office that you can bring in your donation of money. The bucket will be in the office until Christmas Break.  Please help us support this worthy cause that will benefit seniors years to come.

Attention ALL Seniors:
Please turn your senior photos into Mrs. Blomme or Mrs. Mennenga before Christmas. Have your photographer email your choice to us.

Way to go BK!! All together, including the elementary, you donated over 
$1200 to the Children's Miracle network!! The NHS students will be on 
Star 106.1 around 1:15 this Wednesday to present the money.

 

Here are the final standings for the Jr Sr High:
Last place - juniors
5th place - 7th
4th place - seniors
3rd place - sophomores
2nd place - freshmen
1st place - 8th grade

Speech one-act play tryouts will be Wednesday, November 16 and Friday, November 18 at 7:00 am in the auditorium

The Senior group picture is on sale is the office. Please have orders in and paid for by November 18th.

Congratulations to the Junior High football team on their undefeated season.  Finishing 6-0.  
 
There will be a quick 9th-12th grade girls Basketball meeting today in Mrs. Meints room at 1:15pm.
 
Juniors, please come to the office and sign a thank you note that will be sent for Prom donations.
 
There will be a flu shot clinic at school Tuesday, November 1st 2016.  Shots are $25 each.  Forms can be picked up in the office and must be returned by Thursday, October 27th.  
 
Play practice for the one act "It’s not you, it's me" will not have practice today or Thursday.  All cast will meet for practice Wednesday and Friday morning at 7am.  Don’t be late!  Any questions please see Maddie or Mr. Howell.  
 
Attention Speech team members:  If you are wanting to perform at the Top of Iowa Speech Festival on Saturday, December 3rd in Osage, you MUST sign up on the speech bulletin board by Thursday, October 20th.  Titles for contest are not due until November 3rd.  See Mrs. Bock or Miss Greene with any questions.

Reminder to students there is absolutely no parking in the back lot by the bus barn anytime day or night weekday or weekends.  Thank you.

Jostens will be here on Thursday, October 20th, at 8:15 am to meet with the sophomores about class rings. Go to your first hour class for attendance and we will call you to the auditorium. 
 
Registration for Indian Hills winter term starts October 20th.  Please turn in your forms to Mrs. Kozisek by then to make sure you are enrolled in the class you want.

Any Senior that missed the Monday morning meeting, please come to the office to fill in your paperwork and vote for your graduation choices.

The PTO is sponsoring a Mother/Son Football Frenzy Night.  This event is open to any preschool-12th grade boys and their mothers (or a female role model of choice.)  There are sheets in the high school office for anyone that is interested.  
 
The Young Women in Business Conference is next Monday, October 17th.  We will be leaving at 7:00 a.m.!!!!
Meet by the office doors.  We should be back between 3:30 and 4:00 p.m.

Attention cast members of "It's Not You, It's Me", there is an updated rehearsal schedule for your show.  Please top in Mr. Howell's office to pick one up.

FFA members:  Tuesday October 11 is the FFA elevator meal.  Please bring your 11x14 pan of cut bars to the AG room that morning. 

The next FFA meeting will be October 12th at 8:00 am

FFA please pick up your fruit sales forms Tuesday or Wednesday

Senior Group Picture retake will be Friday, October 14th at 1:00 (beginning of 6th period).  Please make arrangements to be in attendance.

There will be a Senior meeting on Tuesday, October 11 at the beginning of 3rd period.  Check in with your teacher first and then come to the student center.  If you cannot be there, please see Mrs. Ysker.

Volleyball practice as follows:
JJV practice from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m.
V & JV practice from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.
 
Wrestlers:  Open Mats will be on Wednesday at 6:30 a.m. starting 10/5/16.  Use the back door to the wrestling room.  Do not park in the back.
 
All Actors in the one act ”It’s Not You, It’s Me", will have rehearsal tomorrow morning at 7am in the Auditorium.  This is for all actors in the play.  See you then. 
 
All driver's license stations will be closed this Thursday, October 6th.

Class Color War t-shirt order forms are in the office, and are due back by Wednesday, September 21st.  We will wear these shirts on Thursday of homecoming week.  There are also staff shirts available on the order form.   

We are looking for 3 to 4 Juniors to run a JH concession stand on Thursday Oct. 6 from approximately 3:30 to 6.  If you are interested in helping, and completing one of your fundraising opportunities for participation in prom, please see Mrs. Stein

The Homecoming Royalty will take a group picture for the newspaper on Monday, September 19th at 10:00 am.  Please dress in bronco attire.

There are drivers Ed schedules available in Mr. Wessels room.  

The next FFA meeting will be on September 14th at 7:15 in the AG room.

There will be a spaghetti dinner served with Dave's famous cornbread and an ice cream sundae before the football game Friday, September 9th, from 5 - 7 at the United Methodist Church. They are asking for a free will offering and all proceeds go towards materials for volunteers in missions.

The B-K PTO is hosting a Muffins with Moms event for PK - 12 students. Please invite your mom or another role model to join you for a muffin, juice, and coffee from 7 - 8 am on Wednesday, September 7th in the FCS room!

Thank you to those who attended Thespian Orientation Monday night. We had over 25 students in attendance! Don't forget about our next Thespian event, on Wednesday, September 7th, at 7 am. See you all there! If you were unable to make Orientation but are still interested in being part of the Thespian organization, please see Mr. Howell.

Mrs. Kozisek is taking a group of girls to The Women in Business conference at ISU on October 17th. There is a sign up sheet on Mrs. Mennenga's door. It is a great way to see different careers available.

There are extra junior high 2015-2016 yearbooks for sale for $8- see Mrs. Mennenga.

8th period PE needs to report to study hall today.  You will have PE on Friday. 

PSEO students, if you still need a book for your class, see Mrs. Kozisek.

The open campus list for juniors and seniors is posted. It is up to you to check it and know whether or not you are allowed to leave. If you are on the list you have open campus opposite of PE only at this time. 

Attention all actors or actresses! One Act play auditions are happening this week on Thursday, September 1st, both at 7:00 am and 5:30 pm. If you are interested in auditioning, please attend one of these times. Any questions, please see Mr. Howell, Grace Ritter, or Maddi Mason.  

The open campus list for juniors and seniors is posted. It is up to you to check it and know whether or not you are allowed to leave. If you are on the list you have open campus opposite of PE only at this time. The OC applications were due last Friday- if you do not have them in by the end of the day today you will not be added to the list this time and you will wait until mid-term to receive open campus.

Belmond-Klemme Junior Class is sponsoring a football tailgate supper from 5-6:30 THIS FRIDAY outside the football field!  For $6 you can get a chicken sandwich, burger, hot dog, or brat, chips, beans, dessert and drink!  Come out and support the BK after prom

ATTENTION JUNIORS: You must volunteer at at least 2 fundraising events throughout the school year in order to participate in prom.  There have already been opportunities over the summer to volunteer, but another opportunity is coming up this Friday, Sep. 2nd.  We are hosting a football tailgate from 5-6:30 and could use student help to serve and clean-up after.  If you are available to work at all, please let Mrs. Stein know this week (even if you have to come late). She will keep track of any and all events worked.
