The Belmond Reading Awareness Committee and BK faculty and staff would like to say thank you to all of the people that made our “Celebrate March Madness with Bronco Readers” month so very successful!!

Thank-you to Fareway, Dollar General, Bloemke Pharmacy and Iowa Specialty Clinic for allowing us to have reading awareness literature handed out to their customers. We were so thrilled to have contributions from Belmond Drive Inn for ice cream cone coupons, Lyric Theater for theater bucks and to Dirk Van der Linden and Thrivent for $250.00 worth of books, all to be used as reading incentives.

Thank-you to the Belmond Rehabilitation Center and Leinbach Center for allowing us to have our kids come read to them throughout the month! We appreciate the businesses that asked for boxes of books to be given to them to use for the kids of their customers.

Thank you to the businesses that advertised our reading awareness month! This brings us to how extremely pleased we were at the number of guest readers we had throughout the month of March!!

We had so many community members that came to read to us!! Needless to say we were ecstatic! Every day the kids were excited at the prospect of another guest reader coming to read to us!! Our high school reader’s day was fantastic!! The kids did such a great job reading to our kids!!

Our faculty enjoyed reading at the Rowan, Klemme and Belmond libraries after school for a week. We also enjoyed reading to kids on the school buses. The National Honor Society held a Points (Pennies) for Patients challenge for the kids. Each day they were challenged to bring a different coin to school. This was a way for our school to give back to the community. Thanks to the contributions of the Jacobson kids we raised $1,185.18 for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society of Iowa.

A huge thank-you goes to all of the people who contributed items for our Reading Time Out Supper/Read In!! Whether you donated chips, cookies, or water, it was greatly appreciated! We were overjoyed and appreciate that so many families attended this event and ate, read, and listened to stories from our numerous guest readers.

Thanks to the guest readers for donating their time towards reading to our kids!! We look forward to this being an annual month-long event! This reading celebration was made better because of the Bronco Community’s support!!
