November 2026

Superintendent Message

As autumn settles across our community, November brings a natural opportunity to pause, reflect, and give thanks. Walking through the halls of our schools this month, I am filled with overwhelming gratitude for the dedicated educators, supportive families, and community partners who make the Belmond-Klemme School District such a special place to learn and grow.

Our focus remains steadfast on putting our students first in every decision we make. In every classroom, our staff is delivering high-quality, evidence-based instruction designed to challenge and inspire. We are seeing our mission in action every day: empowering our learners by supporting individual growth and creating meaningful opportunities within a safe, caring community. From academic achievements in the classroom to teamwork in fine arts and athletics, our students continue to demonstrate true Bronco spirit.

Success in education is never a solo journey. The progress our students make is deeply rooted in the strength of our school-home partnership. When we work together—sharing goals, celebrating milestones, and supporting our children through challenges—we build a foundation that prepares every learner to reach their full potential and contribute positively as engaged citizens.

As we move into this season of gathering and gratitude, I want to thank each of you for your continued engagement, your presence at school events, and your unwavering belief in our youth. It is your trust and collaboration that fuel our progress and strengthen our Bronco family.

Fire Prevention Week Highlights

A huge thank you to the Belmond Fire Department for visiting us during Fire Prevention Week! Our students had a fantastic time and learned so much about staying safe.

Update on building projects

Supported by the two funding streams reserved specifically for district infrastructure improvements, our school district contracted Denovo Construction Solutions during the 2024–2025 school year to conduct a facilities study and develop a five-year plan.

Roofing Upgrades The study identified one roof section on the Jr/Sr High School in critical condition (0–2 years of expected life remaining) and four sections in poor condition (1–5 years remaining). This past summer, we replaced the critical section and one poor section, and the school board just accepted a bid to replace the remaining three high-priority sections. Once all five are complete, the rest of the roof sections should be good for another five to ten years.

Gym & Stage Refinishing We also used our facility funding to refinish the stage floor in the auditorium as well as the gym floors at both the elementary and Jr/Sr High schools. They look amazing! Be sure to stop by a basketball game this winter to check them out!

SIAC committee

Per Iowa law, our district maintains a School Improvement Advisory Committee (SIAC) composed of students, parents/guardians, teachers, and administrators. Together, this committee reviews student performance data, assesses district needs, and makes key recommendations to support ongoing school improvement.

Our upcoming meeting:
  • Date: Tuesday, December 8
  • Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
  • Location: Jacobson Elementary Library

If you are interested in serving on the committee, please reach out to Superintendent Jenn Peter at jenn.peter@bkcsd.org.

Our Belmond-Klemme cast and crew of The Champ are honored to host playwright Brianna Dehn this Saturday! Ms. Dehn will lead an exclusive workshop with our students before attending the evening show.

Come out to support our talented Broncos Friday & Saturday, Nov 6 - 7, at 7:00pm.  Enjoy plenty of laughs as Tumbleweed, Iowa, hosts the 56th Semiannual Donut Eating Competition. Will "Jaws" hold onto her title? Come find out!
